  Great views of the creek and partial ocean views. The sound of the pounding surf was soothing. The interior was both very new and very clean. Wonderful supply or kitchenware, towels, blankets, movies, and games. The location is right near South Salmon Creek beach. Also, nearby plenty of restaurants, beaches, shops and grocery stores. I will be back to this treasure called "The CabIn".
  To show how much we liked the place, our ONLY criticism was a gap at the base of the front porch steps, that my disabled wife had to hop over...very, very minor. Try it, you'll love it!

  The cabin is in a great location overlooking the Salmon River with birds galore, ducks and deer. What a fantastic place to stay! We stayed three nights arriving on a Thursday to find ourselves alone with nature’s solitude. The ocean can be found right up the road with a 5 minute walk. You can also drive to the parking lot if preferred....we did both.
  
  The deck was the highlight of our trip. Sat out there for hours on end. The cabin has just about everything you need. You don’t need to bring anything for the kitchen. Only need refrigerated condiments and your favorite spices. The bed was amazingly comfortable which has a dense foam pad on top. The T.V. is large with cable and lots of videos to watch. The shower was wonderful, lots of hot water and flow (they have a tankless water heater). The bathtub was huge and we had a relaxing bath one night. The only negative for us anyway is not having a barbecue and maybe a table with chairs to sit at. Bring your hairdryer, Q tips, shampoo, etc.
  
  Bodega Bay Escapes is the best management company we’ve ever experienced. They were right on it when we complained that there was no cable the first night. It was fixed instantly! And, the girls are super friendly and you can tell they are really into their jobs of making people happy. They also have quite a large movie collection to take back to the place.
  
  The best thing to describe “The Cabin” is relaxing, get into nature, and zen out for a while. I felt so refreshed after staying here and it will linger on for a lifetime! Highly recommend!

  The Cabin is a delightful little cabin for two. The description and photos from Bodega Escapes where exactly accurate of the property. The cabin was clean and well maintained. I loved being on the river at Salmon Creek. The cabin had a wonderful deck and a very short walk to the beach. We had a wonderful dinner at Lucas Wharf as well as a great lunch at the Tides. We drove up to Bodega Head for a great view of the ocean, then explored the cute shops in Bodega Bay. It was a peaceful and relaxing few days. Wish we could have stayed longer. If you are looking for somewhere to relax in a peaceful atmosphere I highly recommend ‘The Cabin’. I can’t wait to go back soon.

  My husband and I took a small spring break at this sweet little cottage. We enjoyed watching the birds on the creek, got to do a little stargazing on Saturday night and had a nice walk down to the beach to spend some time walking and watching the surf. At night, we could hear the ocean and in the morning could see the white caps of waves. The house was well equipped, clean, and very comfortable. Shower had good pressure! We look forward to our next stay there! The only thing I would suggest is a clear and easy to read set of directions for the heater (including location of thermostat). We figured it out—but it would have been nice to have it simplified. The experience didn’t affect our stay—we loved it.

  We love Salmon Creek, and being in "The Cabin" right on the creek was very special. We had our honeymoon in Salmon Creek fifty years ago, so being in this delightful cabin was perfect. Being able to sit on the deck near the water, and then jump in the kayaks right there, was ideal. There were a number of items that needed attention, such as no fire extinguisher, oven not lighting, ant control, garbage not picked up, etc. We've provided Bodega Bay Escapes a detailed list of these that should be attended to. But we loved the Cabin, and we'll be back!

  My husband and I stayed at "The Cabin" March 24-26, 2015. It was a great get away after 10 months of treatment for a malignant melanoma. We enjoyed the view and watching the birds on the creek. The place is very well appointed and had pretty much everything we needed. The only thing we noticed that should probably be addressed is the water under the house which is causing moisture on the floor inside. Aside from that it was pretty nice.   We had a wonderful stay in a very well equipped studio home. Everything that is needed is present and comfortable. The décor is simple without being Spartan, and exudes calm and peace.
  
  If I had any suggestion it would be to make the use/control of the gas fireplace more explicit.
  
  I would consider replacing the couch with its blow-up mattress with a futon or other more readily used as a bed substitute, so that the unit might be rented to a couple with a child or perhaps two couples who are close (if the owners want to increase their rental possibilities). We, on the other hand, like that it is SO aptly suited to just two as we sought quiet from a very active family life. We intend to take advantage of the peace and calm AGAIN very soon.

  First off, this is a great little place. This is the second time I’ve stayed here. I love the morning view over the river as the sun hits the grass across the water. I love listening to the ocean waves as I drift off to sleep. It is conveniently located near Bodega Bay. It has a full kitchen and all the basics: coffee pot, pots, pans, etc.. The bathtub is amazing: huge tub with lots of hot water. Took a bath every day.
  
  The cons: this place needs a dehumidifier. It is damp all the time. The heater is not intuitive and no instructions were included in our welcome packet. We struggled with the thing for all 3 days we were there, never really figuring out how it works. (I have an actual engineering degree and it left me scratching my head.) On a minor note, there needs to be a place to hang wet towels. Lots of wall space to put towel racks, they just need to invest the $50 to make it happen. Last gripe, DVD player was out of service. Not a big deal but should be addressed.
  
  These are all minor problems that were easily worked around during our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here if you ever get the chance.

  One thing we really liked about "The Cabin" is the kids could enjoy the beach and sand dunes, while my husband could do some fishing off the deck and out along the shore (he caught fish AND a crab!). We could hear the surf at the house, but we had the peacful creek rolling by with wonderful birds enjoying the water. The house itself was comfortable, clean and cheerfully decorated with shell/beach pictures and artifacts. I could lie on the couch by the back door with the door open and feel the breeze while looking out toward the beach. That was lovely. We had no neighbors on either side, so we had some privacy. I hope we can come back again next summer!

  It's like a big living room with a patio. Perfect for just us 2 and a dog. Nice TV/cable (no WiFi). When it's windy, just look out the windows to the water, when it's not walk down the street to the beach; the one on the left is best. (no dogs, unfortunately) Great big bathtub! Bring binoculars for wildlife watching. Bring your own water, the faucet supply is yucky.

  The location is great. Beach easy to walk to. Enjoyed walking the neighborhood. Loved all the wild life that could be seen from the deck. A few problems-no cookie sheets, Wi Fi not working and the gas fireplace quit working. But the staff was quick to being us brand new cookie sheets, a brand new Belkin and tried to fix the fireplace. A space heater worked fine in its place. The bed proved to be very comfortable and the bath tub/shower nice and big. Plenty of hot water! Wish there had been a barbacue. All in all a great place!

  Checked in Saturday February 3rd right before the big storm ⛈️ We have stayed here before and really enjoy this little cottage. However, the floor was covered with dead ants! Took us an hour of sweeping and wiping the countertops ending up with several piles ugh 😣 Called Pam and she said that she would refund the cleaning deposit. Lost power Sunday afternoon and it finally came on Wednesday morning. Good thing it has a gas fireplace and stove, but no hot water 🚿 We made due and had fun anyway.

  Our overall stay was good and The Cabin is in a good location as well as it was clean and as described. Prior to check-in the management staff was attentive to emails and helpful with any questions. I would like to add that if you have a dog you won't be able to take advantage of the "within walking distance" Salmon Creek Beach, as they don't allow dogs on the beach and you also can't leave your dog in The Cabin unattended of course. One thing for the management staff, please consider including directions for the Gas Fireplace, it at times was just too much in the home, warmth wise, and we couldn't figure how to turn off but only turn down the flow. The panel directions did not work as stated. I have seen this in other reviews too. Also a great addition to this home would be an outside table on the deck and maybe a special touch would be a brochure of the area including local restaurants and also times/days they are closed as we struggled to find dinner at 6pm.

  House was recently remodeled and has a wonderful deck overlooking the river (Salmon Creek) They could use updated kitchen pots, pans, utensils. The couch pulls out into an airbed which was actually comfortable. Deer in the meadow, a red fox living in the bushes next door, Canadian geese, mallards, quail, sandpipers. You name it, they are there. Incredible location a few hundred yards from a pristine beach with no one on it. Extremely relaxing getaway.

  My son, our chocolate lab and I needed a quick get away to the beach and found this charming home available at the last minute. The location is perfect along the river...prime for kayaking...and just a short walk down to one of the most beautiful beaches in Bodega. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfortable bed and couch for sleeping, the internet access, the spacious bathroom, & the full kitchen. We played games, made awesome meals in the home, and brought back awesome local clam chowder. I found the neighbors added to the charm of the location as I like to truly experience the culture of the area but not all might. My only "wishes" would be that dogs were allowed on that beautiful beach (I get it's a nature preservation thing), that there were clean and comfy patio chairs & table, and that there was a dock to which we had access to launch our kayak in the backyard.

  The security of the Cabin is very poor with glass in the front door adjacent to the locks. The front door could be easily opened by breaking the lower right glass and reaching through and opening the door, the same with the back door.

  Nice little cottage for two people. Loved being right on the water and waking up to the fresh air. The road that the cottage is on can get a bit busy since it is the main access to the beach. The main bed was not a queen but a double, however the sofa bed was a queen with an air mattress. My husband and I slept in separate beds because one was too small for both of us and the other not comfortable for me. There were not any instructions in plain site for the air mattress. We had to search the house to find it. The ants were not fun but not that bad. I'm sure most of the homes have them. It was pretty clean but floors could have been cleaner. I don't think they have been thoroughly mopped in a while. The weather was beautiful and refreshing. We probably wouldn't stay here again only because we would like to sleep in the same bed. A BBQ would be an awesome addition to this home. I highly recommend bringing one as you will want to sit out and eat on the beautiful deck.

  The flatware had rust spots I could not remove. The bed had to be stripped and remade each day due to the air mattress. Light fixtures in the kitchen were greasy. I would recommend informing guests to bring bottled water for coffee.

  Let's get the bad out of the way. Ants, lots of them this trip. Silverware, knives, pans - more like tin-ware, pitted, rusted. Locks, took forever to open/lock. These are all necessary, small fixes that could/should be done to elevate this divine, modern, well-furnished cabin to heavenly status.
  
  Pros - OMG location. Provided you shopped prior to coming, you needn't get back into your car for your whole stay. Staying in bed til late. Walking up around the fields, back onto the deck for reading and lunch 10 feet from the river and across to a huge marsh preserve with birds, deer, ducks, fish jumping, otters playing, hawks sweeping the sky. Then a brief walk along the path to the beach - miles of it. Clean, broad, backed by beautiful dunes. Idyllic. Oh... no AT&T cell phone service (A BLESSING). Big TV, capable and delightful gas-powered cast iron stove for heating, great bathroom, stacked washer/dryer. Sleeping on an adequately large futon - not your fancy bed. Neighbors a mix of residents and rental homes - but this is the BEST of the lot. A small somewhat cozy one-very large room jewel. Not a better location if you love nature by the water. The rental service just needs to get its act in gear regarding ants, better kitchenware and locks/keys that are easier to use. My wife says we should emphasize the easy walking to the beach and the river just under the deck.

  Just being on the water of Salmon Creek made this trip relaxing. I stayed in The Cabin over the Thanksgiving weekend. This rental was very clean and looks exactly like the pictures. This would be a 5 star rental, but there is no bed. The "bed" is a sofa bed that has an air mattress. It was comfortable, but it would be better if they put in a day bed or some other bed. The rental company was very easy to deal with--I left them a voicemail on their non-emergency phone on Thanksgiving and someone called me back that day. I would probably stay here again because it is a very comfortable and clean rental--and being right on the water is amazing!

  PROS: Great location on the creek. Lots of bird watching opportunities. Good high speed internet (was able to watch Netflix). Cottage is fresh and clean. Great bathroom and washer/dryer. Gas stove was on thermostat and kept house nice and warm. Window blinds were in great shape and easy to use.
  
  CONS: Swallows have nested in the attic space and could be heard at all hours. The management team is notifying the owners, so hopefully this will be dealt with. The kitchen silverware, pans, etc were really worn down (silverware was cheap and had rusted). The living room futon was very uncomfortable to sit on for more then 30 minutes at a time (your backside would fall asleep). Also there is no permanent bed, just a fold out air bed from the back sofa. A queen back in this space would have been more preferable.
  
  CONCLUSION: I will be back, just with my own kitchen stuff and some extra cushions.

  I have rented from Bodega Bay Escapes (BBE) on multiple occasions over the years. They are top notch. This solo-trip was very last minute. I called to see if they had any last minute openings and sure enough The Cabin on Salmon Creek was available. I was blown away when I got there. The cabin is at the end of a row of cabins lined along serene Salmon Creek. The cabin is charming, comfortable, and clean. Immaculately clean. The cabin has windows on all sides providing beautiful light and pleasant breezes. I was mesmerized watching the array of birds. One night I watched as four deer emerged from the tall grass across the river to drink from the river.
  I would highly recommend this property - it's great for solo travel, a couple or a small family. The location is excellent as it's a short drive out of central Bodega Bay and a quick walk to the ocean. I also recommend Bodega Bay Escapes in general - they are professional, friendly, accommodating and they have the best properties in the area. Other vacation property management companies in Bodega Bay I've rented from in the past just don't compare.

  For the price, I would not stay here again. The furniture is uncomfortable, no dining table... even a small two person one would have been nice. When bed is folded out, you can't get out the door. Futon is horrible to sit on. Chairs outside were cracked, so we didn't enjoy sitting outside. We wished we would have spent just a bit more to stay in another property with more amenities. Didn't notice there wasn't a dishwasher until we were there. Vacation is not the time you want to wash dishes. It was clean and nicely remodeled. Bathroom was beautiful. Nice washer and dryer if you need it. Quiet area. Beautiful view. This really should be priced at least $50 less a night.
