Grebe

Grebe is a 2 story 5 bedroom, 3 bath home built at the end of the cul-de-sac. This home overlooks the 8th fairway of The Links at Bodega Harbour. It has amazing views of Bodega Bay, Bodega Head, Doran Beach to the North, Tomales Bay and Point Reyes to the South.The living room has a wood stove, game table, TV with cable, DVD player. On the main level you have a master suite with a king bed, TV with cable, DVD and a private bathroom with a tub/shower combo and slider that opens out to the patio with the hot tub. The 2nd bedroom is across the hall and has a queen bed next to a bath with a tub/shower combo. The 3rd, 4th and 5th bedrooms are all upstairs, 1 with 2 twins, 1 with a king bed and 1 with a full, all sharing a bathroom with a shower/tub combo. This home has a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining room table that seats 10 with additional seating for 4 at the kitchen bar. There is large patio with a gas BBQ and an outdoor dining table that can be accessed through the living room slider. The Grebe home has a 2-car garage, washer and dryer and includes linen. No pets.
Beach Access:
To walk to the beach from the Grebe house it will take about 10 minutes. Walk down the street and stay left onto Gull Drive, the beach trail will be on your left. The walk from the trailhead to the beach is about 4 minutes. There is also a short trail to the beach using the access at the Club House, the drive will be about 5 minutes and the walk from there another 5 minutes.

  This is our 5th or 6th weekend at Grebe House. It’s comfy and well located. The large dining room table was nicely refinished. Kitchen well stocked. House well maintained.
  One of our guys peeled potatoes and the skins clogged the sink. Bodega Bay Escapes to the rescue! Jesse came and fixed it timely. BB Escapes staff are great! Excellent customer service.
  We watched 4 playoff football games- nice big screen TV.
  The patio table could use a refurbish but in winter time we didn’t use it.
  Lucas Wharf, a fav of ours, suddenly closed down - don’t know why. The Tides Restaurant still open and did fine.

  I have stayed in this home 5 times over the years. I love the home because of the location and there are 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms for a group of people. I like the walk out patio. While it does have some recent kitchen and bath upgrades, the common area furniture needs to be upgraded, more of it and positioned to enjoy the ocean views. The round table and chairs need to go...they are old and sticky. I am sure owner is making improvements as time goes on. I will stay here again.

  We rented this house for a group to celebrate a birthday. First I will say I am a very picky person and never stay in hotels less than 4 stars. I had no complaints for this house. The house was very clean and well equipped. The house has everything you need. There are two rooms upstairs with extra little nook beds located behind the doors which can accommodate a child or small adult. We would absolutely book this house again and actually talked about booking again this summer. The walk to the beach is less than 10min. The views are amazing.

  Just spent a fantastic weekend making memories with the over 50 year ladies in my family and could not have picked a better place! The pictures do not do the house and view justice. It is beautifully furnished and the bathrooms new renovated. five spacious bedrooms and 3 bathrooms to comfortably accommodate 10 guests(plus two cute little sleeping nooks that kids would love!). Nice size living room with wood burning stove and huge TV. Lots of games and puzzles to keep you entertained. Well stocked kitchen and large dining room table for family meals. Big hot tub (with a view) and a fantastic patio over looking the 8th hole. 180 degree views that can't be beat! We have rented over a dozen houses in BB, and this is at the top of my list!   We had a great stay at Grebe House. Two families were there for 4 nights to celebrate Christmas. The house is very comfortable - great bedrooms, wonderful and spacious living room (with amazing view!) and walking distance from the beach. Everything was clean. We had an incredible visit!
  
  A few things you may want to consider adding/replacing:
  -replace light bulbs in living room (multiple are out so there wasn't much light)
  -leave more towels (there were no extra towels)
  -replace handle on fire place (or provide glove) - the handle is off and it's very hot to open/close

  The home was as advertised. 10 of us high school friends decided to hold our own reunion. All the attendees were happy with the facilities and amazed at the location and views. There is privacy and plenty of room inside the house. The place was clean. Notable is the very well appointed kitchen, with every plate, dish and appliance you could think of. Coffee pot was not clean and made bad coffee, so bring your own if you like a good cup. The hiking on the beach was a short 1/4 mile from the house and accessible. The golf course is gorgeous. The "sleeping nooks" are quite small and no adult wanted to stay in them, but they would be adequate and fun for children. Overall, the home made our stay better then we expected!

  There were four families that shared the home and there was plenty of room. Two of the upstairs rooms had little attic alcoves which the kids had to take turns sleeping in. Although the weather was foggy much of the time, a few miles inland brought sunny, warm weather. There was plenty to do. The boys had fun searching for golf balls at dusk. The home is starting to show its age but was very functional. The dining table needs to be refinished (stuff sticks to it) and a few ants were found around the kitchen sink but thats all we found to be negative. We will definitely recommend Grebe House to anyone who asks.

  As soon as we walked in the front door, we knew we were in for an amazing weekend. The views are unreal, from the wrap around windows in the living room, dining room and kitchen, to the breath-taking views in the bedrooms upstairs. The five bedrooms were decorated very nicely and everyone loved having their own TV.
  Our family, including grandchildren loved the large jacuzzi and again the views of Bodega Head and Doran Beach as you soaked in the relaxing atmosphere.
  We are a golfing family and took advantage of the beautiful course as well as watching the golfers while sitting on our patio.
  The house has it all, including the close beach trail which we used often to walk the beaches and tide pools.

  The Grebe House was everything my family and I could have asked for. It was spacious, yet warm and comfortable. It has been my experience in renting larger homes that they do not always have dining room tables that match the home's sleeping capacity, but this was not so at the Grebe. Consequently, we had several wonderful meals that lasted hours. All 10 of us fit comfortably. The hot tub was also spacious, if somewhat over-chlorinated. The short walking jaunts to the beach became bookends to our full days of kayaking and hiking. We had beautiful weather, so the large outdoor table became our favorite gathering place. I would stay again in a second.

  We rent a home in Bodega Bay every year for our family retreat. Pam, owner of Bodega Bay Escapes, knows her properties well and tunes into what her client’s needs are in a home. The draw of Grebe home is that it has 5 bedrooms, though it is in need of upgrades and repairs throughout, including the furniture and lighting. The kitchen was well-stocked, though small for the large amount of people this home accommodates, though it has a huge table to seat all comfortably. The location and view cannot be beat. The guys enjoyed a round of golf. The pluses outdo the negatives for this home. Fishetarian is our favorite casual eatery with fresh fish n chips, fish tacos, crab cakes, etc. The Tides has great breakfasts, traditional eggs Benedict and crab Benedict, too. Gourmet Au Bay was disappointing this time around due to Covid-19 restrictions...boxed pre-made food, weak wines, though the French sparkling was very good.

  The views from this house are amazing. On Friday, as we were leaving some man was coming up to get paint out the garage, we hadn't received a call, but he came and left. The upstairs bedroom with the full bed, the striker plate for the door is stripped, so therefore, the door doesn't shut and latch, it was opening and closing constantly. The bedroom directly across from the master's bed, squeaks if you look at it, my son n law said it would squeak if you wiggled a toe.There is a foul odor in the livingroom near the entrance to the stairway, as they were all saying smelled like "poop". Not sure why the SPA appeared so GREEN and murky, but it was enough to keep a few of us out of it. We had a wonderful time, and am not one to complain, but wanted to bring this to your attention, as they seem to be easy fixes and would have made our stay nicer. We will see you again next year!

  My husband's siblings-and-families got together for Christmas (all 11 of us). The house is great. Beautifully remodeled kitchen, and everything was good quality and well kept up. Could have used a few more wine glasses. We had the bad luck of being there when the furnace died, but the wood burning stove did a great job keeping us warm. The house is very well insulated, too.
  We hadn't stayed on a golf course before, and ended up being grateful for the rain, because on sunny days the flying golf balls made the back patio useless.
  Beautiful view, and hopefully the furnace is fixed for good and won't be an issue anymore.
  The folks at Bodega Bay Escapes were extremely helpful getting us a gate for the stairs and a fence around the stove so the 17-month old didn't get hurt. They were fantastic and responsive.
  We couldn't find a remote for the TV in the garage, so my nieces couldn't change the input to hook up their Xbox.

  Our family rented 2 houses in this complex to accommodate 13 of us total. Grebe was our main hangout because there were more bedrooms there. Nice views from house over golf course to bay. The living room has only a sectional, which was not satisfactory for elderly parents; they'd have liked an easy chair that was higher to get out of. Large dining table seated 13 of us by adding stools from kitchen counter. Smaller round table in LR great for jigsaw puzzles (there is a huge cabinet full of them!) Ping pong a nice option in this house. Kitchen very well equipped (good knives, gadgets,colanders, many pots, adequate dishes and glasses, etc.)and plenty of spices on hand. No bath mats in bathrooms and no extra towels available in house, so be prepared. Nice BBQ outside. Generally, furnishings seemed a bit dated and well used, but adequate for our needs. Property company very responsive to replacing missing light bulbs, but for cost of rentals, I would have expected that all would be in good repair without our asking. The house worked for our group, just not my idea of beautiful. Be aware that walking in this complex is on the road, not the golf course. It's not heavily trafficked fortunately.

  1. Only 3 extra rolls of toilet paper in the entire house for a party of 11 people.
  2. Only enough dish washer soap was provided in a small zip lock bag for just 2 loads.
  (all of the above required a trip to the store).
  3. Broken manual can opener-no can opener in the kitchen. Very frustrating.
  4. I would say that the bathrooms were clean, but very dated (20 years old) for the level of house this is (Million dollar home w/awesome views). A suggestion would suggest a remodel in the future? At the very least, replace the shower head in the master bath-it's powerful enough to strip paint off of walls! Other than that-it's a nice place.

  Our party was nine males with assorted priorities - golf, internet access, good view, working barbeque, big kitchen and living area, lots of single beds, and an HD flat screen to watch sports. We escape every year - this was one of the better houses we have rented in either the coast or in Tahoe. With the exception of the thermostat (we built a fire in the awesome stove) and a beater television in the garage, everything worked. We could've used some dishwasher detergent too, but we just washed dishes in shifts. All in all, the house met our needs for golf, cards, booze, and beer pong, and beach access for horseshoes. We would rent again. In fact, most of the guys said we should try to get this one again. The view is great, and the blinds offer good privacy and glare control late in the day. Our barbeque "specialist" said the barbeque was great. We didn't bother with the spa, but it looked decent. Like I said, great house.

  - Not very clean in general and the kitchen was bad, almost every dish/pot/pan we pulled out had to be cleaned because there was dried food residue left behind.
  - Lots of non-working items:
  - Outlets in all bathrooms not working, finally found GFI master outlet in garage which we were able to reset.
  - Dishwasher was VERY difficult to close so that it would run, also it
  wasn't anchored so it would push back or pull out of the cabinet.
  - Dryer took forever to get clothes dry (over 2 hours for a load of towels).
  - Coffee maker lid was broken, we had to prop it over the water reservoir
  while making/serving coffee.
  - Window in downstairs hall bathroom was broken, couldn't be closed
  once opened.
  - Door from garage outside to barbecue area wouldn't open, had to go
  through slider and around to get to barbecue or to take garbage out
  to shed.

  The house is great.....beautiful views and nice bedrooms. Kitchen was a disappointment, usually there are bare necessities provided. There wasn't even a salt shaker :(
  More than half of the light bulbs were missing!!! No ziplocks, no saran wrap, no knifes that weren't serrated.

  I have stayed in the Grebe house before and I love the number of bedrooms and bathrooms and layout, however the property is VERY VERY dated and the amenities such as full dishsoap, cookware etc.....are lacking. I rent many properties in Sea Ranch and Bodega and love this house and location, however the bathrooms and kitchens are dated. Bathrooms should be updated with 2 sinks each to accommodate the occupants.

  We recently rented the Grebe House for a family weekend. We had 7 adults and three older teenagers with us. Overall, the house is very nice. It has plenty of space, the floor plan works well for a large group. Located within walking distance to the beach makes it easy to go back and forth between the house and the beach (tho the walk is a bit steep for elders and small children). The kitchen is fairly well equipped. So, overall, I give the house a "B+".
  The reason I didn't give it an "A" is that there are many things that the owners need to attend to. It seems like they don't pay attention to the details. For instance, there is a large rip behind one of the main cushions on the couch. The twin beds and the queen size bed is fairly worn and therefore, not very comfortable. There are some VERY low header beams just outside the sliding glass door that my tall (6 ft, 1") husband and son had to continually duck under. (Those beams are dangerous. Someone could really smack their head on them.) There are no screens on the sliding glass doors or the windows so you can't really leave them open to let all that great coastal air in the house. The lid to the coffee maker water resevoir is broken so each time I made coffee, I had to reconnect it. There is no supply of plastic wrap, foil or zip loc bags which is kind of strange in the kitchen. It is all in the details and this house needs some help in that area.
  That all being said, the location and layout of the house is wonderful and we have already booked it for next summer. The positives outweigh the negatives. If the owners would fix a few of these things (get the couch repaired, replace that queen bed, add some screens, replace the coffee maker) the house would be over the top, outstanding.
